        希拉里在美國館演講中引用的詩(shī)句

　　5月22日，美國國務(wù)卿克林頓在上海世博會(huì )美國館招待會(huì )上發(fā)表講話(huà)。講話(huà)中她再次引用了一句詩(shī)：山重水復疑無(wú)路，柳暗花明又一村。她是如何用英語(yǔ)表述這兩句詩(shī)的呢?

　　演講原文是：

　　There is a poem from the Southern Song Dynasty that reads: “After endless mountains and rivers that leave doubt whether there is a path out, suddenly one encounters the shade of a willow, bright flowers and a lovely village.”

　　這里“山重水復”可以簡(jiǎn)單說(shuō)成endless mountains and rivers，而“疑無(wú)路”這三個(gè)字可以說(shuō)是比較難翻譯的一個(gè)地方，上文的譯本中作了一個(gè)主語(yǔ)的轉換，將“懷疑”的主語(yǔ)人省去了，用leave doubt that這個(gè)詞組來(lái)表示，就使得譯文簡(jiǎn)化了很多，不然一定要添譯進(jìn)去一個(gè)“人”的主體，譯文很可能就比較冗長(cháng)：After trudging through endless mountains and rivers，one might begin to doubt whether there is a path out。

　　同樣，“柳暗花明又一村”這一句也簡(jiǎn)化成了三個(gè)意象：willow，flower，village。

　　詩(shī)詞的翻譯需要主動(dòng)學(xué)習研究與平時(shí)積累兩方面雙管齊下。不少?lài)庹獊?lái)華演講時(shí)都喜歡引用中國的古詩(shī)詞或者典故，這就是我們做資料收集的一個(gè)很好來(lái)源。

　　原文：

　　Establishing an American presence at this Expo worthy of our great country was quite a journey.

　　這一屆世界博覽會(huì )建立美國展區，為了展現我們偉大國家的風(fēng)采，走過(guò)了一段很不容易的路程。

　　There is a poem from the Southern Song Dynasty that reads: “After endless mountains and rivers that leave doubt whether there is a path out, suddenly one encounters the shade of a willow, bright flowers and a lovely village.” Well, I am very pleased that we have finally arrived at our lovely village.

　　南宋時(shí)期的一首詩(shī)寫(xiě)道，山窮水盡疑無(wú)路，柳暗花明又一村?，F在我們最終來(lái)到我們可愛(ài)的村莊，我感到非常高興。

　　This was a real team effort, a partnership that brought together our government, the private sector, the Chinese-American community, and so many friends and supporters. So, let me offer a few thank-yous.

　　這項工作真正體現了團隊精神，體現了伙伴關(guān)系，匯聚了我們的政府、民間部門(mén)、美國華裔社區以及如此眾多的朋友和支持者的力量。為此，請允許我說(shuō)幾句表示感謝的話(huà)。
